The Hurricanes will attempt to extend their winning streak to three games on Thursday, as they welcome the New York Islanders to Raleigh.

Carolina is coming off of a 4-1 victory over Philadelphia on Tuesday in which they never trailed and were leading for over 48 minutes.

While goaltending questions have surfaced over the last few weeks, Pyotr Kochetkov has turned in back-to-back impressive performances in net. He stopped 28 of the Flyers’ 29 shot attempts en route to his third win of the season.

For New York, the month of November has not been too kind, as they have won just three of their 12 contests. Despite this, they have won three of their last five games and appear to be trending in the right direction.

Matthew Barzal (19 points) and Noah Dobson (18 points) pace the roster, while Brock Nelson is the lone Islander to tally 10 goals on the season.

Six different skaters have amassed double digit points, while 13 have found the back of the net.

The area of concern in the first quarter of the season has been goaltending from their star Ilya Sorokin,

Sorokin, who has proven to be one of the best netminders in the game, is allowing what would be a career-high 3.10 goals per game. He has secured a win in just two of his last nine games in goal, including the 4-3 overtime loss to the Hurricanes earlier this month.

Semyon Varlamov has certainly held his own alongside Sorokin, and, after not playing in the last two contests, could be in line for the start in net.

Thursday’s matchup marks the second of four meetings between the Metro Division foes this season.

Puck drop is set for 7:30pm.

In others news for Carolina, forward Teuvo Teravainen reached a notable milestone on Tuesday, as he skated in his 500th game with the Hurricanes.

Teravainen celebrated the feat by recording an assist and making a save of his own in front of the net.

Across the 500 contests, the 29-year old has recorded 123 goals and 255 assists with a +/- rating of +92.

Through 21 games this season, he is third on the roster with 16 points, as he has tallied a team-high 10 goals and six assists.

Teravainen has scored a point in five of the last seven contests, and will look to make it three straight on Thursday.
